"Eight weeks ago I never thought that this could be possible. For the longest time I have been over weight, and completely repulsed by my body. So I made the decision to make a change in my life for the better, I joined a gym ( Work Out World).

As I began to work out, I realized that I had no clue on how to get started. I have belonged to other gyms in the past where the trainers just wanted to collect a paycheck, none of them helped me in my struggle with my weight loss. It was like they didn't even care. I was a bit skeptical to even talk to a trainer at WoW. Thank god I did!! I met my trainer who now I consider one of my close friends (Jared the guy with chocolate hair). "After having 3 children in 4-1/2 years, I found myself carrying many unwanted extra pounds. I joined WOW in July 2007, and began to train with Jason Lerman 2 times a week.

Since I have worked with Jason, I have lost 62 pounds and dropped 7 sizes! When I first began working out, I was out of shape and had little endurance. Jason helped me to adjust my eating and workout routines, and he continued to adjust them whenever I reached a plateau. He was patient and encouraging, yet always challenging me to do things I never thought I would be able to do. When Jason first suggested that I take up running as a hobby, I did not know if I would be able to do it. However, with his encouragement, I have participated in 2 races and now my new goal is to run a half-marathon in the spring!"

"My Personal Trainer (Pete Castiglione) was a constant source of information and inspiration since day one. During our initial consultation we discussed diet and nutrition, various cardio routines, and the importance of weight training. These three elements were constantly reinforced, which kept me on track and focused.

Each Personal Training session began with a warm up of the targeted muscle group, and each exercise and piece of equipment used in my program was well explained. My weight training workouts were varied constantly in order to work different muscle groups and favored higher repetitions over maximum weight. These higher repetitions kept my heart rate elevated and allowed me to burn more calories.

"My involvement with Work Out World began in August 2007, when a friend offered me a buddy pass with an offer that I just couldn't pass up and it has been a life changing experience. I have been overweight most of my life and went down of the road of trying different diets, workout videos and gyms, never finding much success. After touring the gym and learning about all that is had to offer, and meeting with a trainer, I knew this would be different.

"I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer on June 27, 2008. I had two surgeries and they found I had mucinous cancer of my abdominal cavity originating from my appendix. Before the surgery I weighed in at 236 pounds. After the second surgery I weighed 192 which is the weight I started with at Work Out World.

I saw a specialist in September 2008 who scheduled me for a third surgery on January 7, 2009 to treat the cancer. He strongly recommended that I get in shape for the January surgery since it will an extensive surgery lasting anywhere from 12+ hours. The specialist wanted me to work out at least three times a week with a personal trainer. He stated that he wanted me to exercise until I basically dropped. In addition, he wanted me to lose an additional 20 pounds before the surgery. He explained that by doing this it would help with my recovery.

I called a few gyms inquiring about their services. I chose WOW because the staff was welcoming."
